ROSS CONTROLS® Announces New MDC Series Safe Exhaust Valves

MICHIGAN, USA – March 2024 – ROSS Controls® introduces its new MDC Series of safe exhaust (dump) valves with EEZ-ON® (Soft-Start) function for up to Category-2, Performance Level c machine guarding applications.

The safety function of the new ROSS® MDC Series valve is to shut off supply of pneumatic energy and to exhaust any pneumatic energy from downstream of the valve. The MDC Series Safe Exhaust Valve includes a 3/2 normally closed function, single poppet design.

The MDC1 Series valve can be used in Safety Category 1 applications, while the MDC2 Series valve, equipped with a pressure sensor that provides feedback to external controls for safe operation, can be used in up to Safety Category 2 applications.

The 1/2” valve body size has 3/8” through 3/4” port size options with an inline/modular mounting

design, and an EEZ-ON® (Soft-Start) function that allows slower build-up of pressure during start-up, supplying gradual start-up of downstream work elements to help protect employees and equipment. The 1” valve body size has 3/4” through 11⁄4” port size options with an inline mounting design. The MDC Series valves are also available as part of a convenient Safe Air Entry Assembly. The valve size determines the options for lockout valves, filters, regulators, lubricators, and even extra ports that can be located in between components.

Additionally, these Cat-1 and Cat-2 valves with pending DGUV Certification will be included in the SISTEMA Library data available for download from the ROSS website.
