Alliance Sensors Group of Moorestown, N.J., a division of H.G. Schaevitz, has expanded its linear position sensor line with the new LA-9.5 series of miniature AC-linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs).
The linear sensors are small-diameter contactless devices designed for industrial and commercial OEM applications in the factory automation, industrial, and test and measurement markets. The LA-9.5 AC-LVDTs feature infinite resolution, excellent linearity, and a wide operating temperature range, making them ideal for a variety of OEM position sensing applications in which small size is important, according to a May 12 press release.
Other features of the LA-9.5 AC-LVDTs include a miniature 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) OD SS body with 12-inch leads, seven ranges from ±0.64 to ±50.8 mm (±0.025 to ±2.0 inches), -55 to 125 C operating temperature, and good stroke-to-length ratios, the release said.
LA-9.5 series miniature AC-LVDTs operate from a nominal 3 Vrms, 2.5 – 3.3 kHz excitation source. They are offered with either an imperial or metric threaded 2.8 mm (0.110 inch) diameter core that works in a 3.2 mm (0.125 inch) ID bore.
When mated with ASG’s SC-200 DIN-rail-mountable industrial AC-LVDT signal conditioner, an LA-9.5 series LVDT becomes part of a complete position measurement solution, especially where installation space is at a premium, the release said.
