Bellofram Elastomers Adds New Product Line

Industry leader in closed cell silicone sponge expands product offering to include engineered foam in EPDM and neoprene

Newell, W.Va.—February 25, 2024—Bellofram Elastomers, maker of closed cell silicone sponge and inventor of the original Bellofram rolling diaphragm, has expanded its product line to include new engineered foam in neoprene and EPDM.

Long known for serving high-end and niche applications, engineered foam broadens the range of products offered by Bellofram Elastomers to include work-a-day elastomers like EPDM and neoprene foam used to counter noise, vibration, and harshness. Bellofram has invested heavily in the market, building a brand new production line, including a new heated extruder and temperature control units (TCUs) specially suited to the manufacture of synthetic rubber engineered foam.

These products are in high demand for use as seals in the automotive and construction industries. They are highly resistant to environmental conditions like UV rays, ozone, and weathering, and maintain excellent elasticity even in temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius. They do not offer the extreme heat resistance and sterile properties of standard silicone – but those products are already a key part of the Bellofram product mix.

“This expansion of our product line continues Bellofram’s aim to be a one-stop-shop for our customers,” said Matt Wingertsahn, vice president of Bellofram Elastomers. “We know many of our existing customers who rely on us for higher-end and niche silicone applications also have need for synthetic rubber like neoprene and EPDM. Now, they can get both from a single source.”

Bellofram leverages its expertise in these higher-performance elastomers to bring scale and value to all its engineered foam customers.

In recent months, Bellofram Elastomers has also added in-house custom flash cutting for customers who have typically done their own finish work. Plus, Bellofram remains the only source for skinless silicone sponge sheeting skived from buns, making custom thicknesses easy to deliver.
