Greene Tweed U.K. recently designed, manufactured, and shipped 8,000 spring guide ventilator components in 15 days, the company announced in an April 28 news release.
Greene Tweed’s parts contributed to the manufacture of more than 8,000 ventilators for U.K. National Health Service patients, with another 8,000 to be produced by the manufacturing team in May.
The company, headquartered in Kulpsville, Penn., was responding to a March 26 request from U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who asked leading British manufacturing companies to supply parts for ventilator production in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The next day, Green Tweed U.K. was contacted by Rolls Royce about manufacturing the ventilator parts.
The Greene Tweed U.K. team worked remotely from their home offices throughout the weekend to review the product request and provide a manufacturing method.
“Greene Tweed is proud to be involved in this project to support the COVID-19 relief effort,” Tony Baldassara, enterprise value stream manager at Greene Tweed said in the news release.
“To know that we played a part in possibly saving lives from COVID-19 is an incredible feeling and very hard to put into words,” Kevin Lukiewski, president of Greene Tweed, said in the release. “I admire and am proud of our team’s work – they responded immediately and enthusiastically to the request. We are in this together!”
