Solution Strengthened Ductile Iron Now Available From Dura-Bar

Dura-Bar now offers a new ductile iron grade—Solution Strengthened Ductile Iron or SSDI. An ideal choice for rotors used in air and natural gas compressors, as well as hydraulic manifolds and cylinders in fluid power applications, SSDI is a great alternative to 1045 steel used in plug valve inserts and crossheads.

With improved strength and ductility, the SSDI features enhanced machinability due to the addition of silicon. SSDI also boasts a tightened Brinell Hardness (BHN) for consistency throughout the material compared to other similar ductile iron alloys. Backed by a zero defect guarantee, SSDI is available through a network of authorized Dura-Bar distributors.
