Triumph Lands Deal with Airbus and Expands in Wales

The First Minister of Wales, the Rt. Honorable Carwyn Jones AM, announced a deal with the aerospace company Triumph, headquartered in Berwyn, Pa. Triumph secured a $65-million annual contract to supply Airbus with components for aircraft landing gear. Deeside will become the sole supplier of hydraulic actuation systems used in the landing gear for all Airbus A380 and A320 aircraft. The $2.8-million investment in new facilities and equipment is backed by $625,000 business finance from the Welsh Government. The deal will see work move from China to Wales, creating over 60 highly skilled jobs at Triumph’s plant in Deeside. Work on the 2,300-sq. meter extension to accommodate the new business is due to get underway in April with production commencing in April 2016.
