Houchens Acquires Air Hydro Power

Houchens Industries, which owns companies in industrial manufacturing and distribution, construction, and other businesses, recently added fluid power to its portfolio of enterprises.

Houchens announced Dec. 20 that it will acquire Air Hydro Power, a chain of distributors of motion control and fluid power solutions based in Louisville, Kentucky.

The deal is expected to close in January 2023, according to the Houchens statement.

AHP distributes motion control and fluid power products for automation, robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other applications. It serves over 5,000 customers from 21 locations in Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. AHP also provides maintenance, repair, and operations services. It employs about 300 people.

Houchens is owned by employees through an ESOP – employee stock ownership plan. Houchens said in the Dec. 20 statement that AHP “entered into an agreement to sell 100% of the Company to Houchens as a pathway for the employees to share in not only the ownership and success of AHP, but the ownership and success of Houchens.”
