Fluid Power Journal

Dear Hydraulic Specialist Test Candidate

I am writing to let you know IFPS made some changes to the Hydraulic Specialist (HS) Study Manual. Don’t worry if you are already preparing for the test using a previous version; the updated study manual is simply streamlined. If you were unsuccessful the first time around, do not give up! You can find the streamlined study manual in your IFPS account under downloadable products.

Here are some changes to the manual:

  • We’ve reworded complex topics for easier comprehension, added additional examples, and enhanced graphics to support the material.
  • We’ve streamlined the equation formulas and subsequent text describing how to compute complex formulas for ease of calculation.
  • We’ve also added bar to the equations whenever pressure units are used to reflect the relevance to the fluid power industry.

Preparation is the key to a successful outcome!

IFPS wants you to succeed. There are several ways to prepare. Visit ifps.org to access these training resources:

  • Online HS Study Manual pretests
  • Recorded web seminar Outcome presentations
  • Use our animated circuits for a visual understanding of schematics.
  • Form a study group – an excellent way to share strengths and knowledge.

Respectfully,

Thomas Blansett, CFPAI/AJPP, CFPS, CFPIHT, CFPCC
IFPS Technical Director
